Sun Ballast Elite Magazine

Casa Sun Ballast: prodotti, persone, progetti

Intersolar 2026

Solid, safe and universal: at Intersolar 2026 Sun Ballast presents its new photovoltaic ballasts

From 23 to 25 June 2026, Sun Ballast will take part in Intersolar Europe (Munich), one of the most important international trade fairs dedicated to renewable energy. As every year, the Sun Ballast stand (A5.250) will be the reference point for photovoltaic professionals looking for simple, durable and reliable solutions. Together with our team, the new Fortis system – designed to withstand anything – will be the star of this new edition.

Simple, solid and versatile photovoltaic mounting systems

Since 2012, Sun Ballast has been designing concrete ballasts that combine support and weight in a single element, without the need to drill the roof. This innovative approach has revolutionised flat roof photovoltaic mounting systems, reducing installation times and making both design and installation much simpler.

Today, with more than 40 models in the catalogue, Sun Ballast photovoltaic ballasts are used worldwide by thousands of professionals in the industry.

Designed to simplify flat roof PV installations as much as possible, the ballasts easily adapt to every type of installation, regardless of module layout (horizontal, vertical, East-West), roof surface (gravel, membrane, concrete, paving, green roofs, etc.) or panel model.

The ballasts are compatible with both standard and large photovoltaic modules, providing safe and long-lasting support in all weather conditions.

Sun Ballast presents Fortis: the new system designed to withstand anything

Today, one of the main risks for photovoltaic investments is linked to climate conditions: increasingly intense and extreme weather events are putting flat roof systems under significant stress. In this scenario, resistance is no longer just an added advantage, but a key requirement from the design stage onwards.

To meet this market demand for maximum safety and long-term performance, Sun Ballast introduces Fortis: the company’s latest innovation.

The strengths of the Fortis system

Fortis has been developed to overcome new environmental challenges through four key features:

Resistant: exceptional resistance against strong wind gusts and long-term durability.

Universal: allows horizontal installation of photovoltaic panels of any size (including large modules), eliminating constraints and increasing mechanical resistance.

Lightweight: ensures maximum stability while minimising the overall load on the roof.

Durable: like all Sun Ballast solutions, it is covered by the new “Lifetime Warranty” label.

A real structural revolution, made simple

The real innovation of Fortis lies in the way its components are connected: the system creates a true grid where all module rows are interconnected in both directions.

In addition, thanks to an innovative bracket with double locking technology (which secures the panel both above and below), each standard module benefits from 4 independent fixing points, rising to 6 for modules positioned on the outer edges.

This system eliminates the risk of separation between the structure and the panel, traditionally one of the most critical issues in photovoltaic systems.

Despite this incredible strength, the system remains faithful to the Sun Ballast philosophy: maximum simplicity. Fortis is made up of only 5 total components (the membrane, three ballast types and the new bracket), significantly speeding up design processes and reducing installation time and costs on site.

With Fortis, the mounting structure is no longer a limitation, but the certainty of a safe photovoltaic system, today and forever.
