Weather conditions are becoming an increasingly important challenge in the design of photovoltaic systems. To meet this need, Sun Ballast developed FORTIS, a system designed to increase structural strength and provide greater safety and reliability even under significant wind loads.

In Villorba, Centrogest S.r.l. installed a 13 kWp photovoltaic system on a gravel-covered roof, choosing FORTIS with a 10° tilt.

With FORTIS, Sun Ballast introduces a structural evolution designed to make the entire system even stronger: the module rows are connected in both directions through a collaborative structural grid, allowing the different elements to work together and contribute to improved load distribution and the overall strength of the structure.

This configuration is complemented by an innovative fixing system: each module features four independent fixing clamps, while the outer modules have six fixing points. The special clamp bracket also secures the module at both the lower and upper sections, further reinforcing the system in the areas most exposed to stress.

FORTIS therefore combines strength, reduced roof loads and versatility, while maintaining a simple installation process and compatibility with modules of any size. A solution developed to meet the evolving requirements of flat-roof photovoltaic systems without compromising the ease of installation that characterizes Sun Ballast systems.
