Terraces can also be ideal spaces for the installation of photovoltaic systems, and the Sail system by Sun Ballast allows even the smallest surfaces to be used efficiently and productively. The support structures in this solution – which serve both as support and ballast – are arranged with an increasing height from the roof level: this setup makes it possible to place module rows right next to each other, eliminating shading between them, reducing the distance between panels to zero, and making full use of the available space.
Depending on project needs, the concrete ballasts can also be configured for single rows, with adjustable spacing and customizable height to suit the type of building coverage. Available in two configurations, the Sail 10° system allows up to three consecutive rows, while the 5° tilt version – used by our customer Ecotechno Impianti Srl for this project – supports up to six rows.
The 6 kW photovoltaic system shown in the photo was built in the province of Pavia on the paved terrace of a residential building, and the use of concrete ballast simplified all installation operations. Sun Ballast mounting structures require no roof penetration, and the placement of protective rubber mats (supplied by Sun Ballast) underneath prevents any damage to the pavement.
