Sun Ballast support structures can be installed on all types of flat roofs, including membranes, gravel, pavement, or – as in this case – green roofs. This photovoltaic plant was installed in France using the concrete ballasts of the East-West 11°.2 system. Compatible with various photovoltaic ballast models – from 3° to 30° – the East-West racking systems by Sun Ballast offer a simple, versatile, and easy and fast solution for installation. .
The ability to use support structures with different heights from the building coverage allows for more effective design of photovoltaic systems on roofs covered with vegetation. In fact, the use of elevated concrete ballasts prevents the grass layer from damaging the modules or reducing their performance, while also providing added protection from intense weather conditions.
These Sun Ballast support structures, which combine both fixation and weight in a single element, also allow you to adjust both the row length and spacing. This makes managing roof obstacles and avoiding shading much easier, leading to optimised space usage and system performance. All Sun Ballast components require no roof penetration – neither in the roof nor in the structure – ensuring protection of the existing building coverage. The M8 threaded bushings are pre-inserted in the structure, making the fixation of the panels stable, secure, and long-lasting.
